Between the tree and the bark due to dry conditions; hot air through midweek | September 17, 2024 – Indianapolis News | Indiana Weather | Indiana Traffic

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Another day, another empty glass of water from above. Also not helping our drought situation are these very warm temperatures.

This forecast is for the weather to remain hot during the last days of summer, with no rain in sight for the time being. Since August 1, several places in the state have experienced a rainfall deficit of over three inches.

Tuesday night: This evening, predominantly clear and cool weather is expected with lows of around 15 degrees Celsius.

Wednesday: On Wednesday, we’re expected to reach our longest dry spell of the year. We’ll then count 12 days and take another step towards the official “desert” designation. Seriously, humidity will rise and be borderline uncomfortable, with highs of over 30 degrees and even 35 degrees in some places.

Thursday: Hey, look, we can more or less repeat Wednesday’s weather on Thursday. It’s of no use as it will still be dry. Highs will drop back to above 30 degrees.

7-day forecast: The hot and dry weather continues this weekend. By Saturday, we’re virtually guaranteed to have 15 days in a row without measurable rain. This streak hasn’t been seen for nearly two years. To take it even further, it’s been nine years since this streak lasted 20+ days. There’s a glimmer of hope for rain on Sunday and early next week, but that chance is pretty slim right now.
