SoccerWire has provided an updated edition of the top-ranked women’s college soccer programs in the United States.
With the 2024 NCAA soccer season officially underway, below we take a look at the top 50 programs in NCAA women’s soccer over the past five seasons based on their average position in the season-ending rankings. The rankings are based on a combination of the latest United Soccer Coaches Polls and each season’s Rating Percentage Index (RPI), with bonuses awarded for NCAA Tournament qualification and College Cup wins.
RPI is one of the predominant ranking mechanisms used by the NCAA for various sports. It measures each team’s performance weighted relative to its playing strength, with wins over strong opponents playing a key role. SoccerWire’s top 50 rankings utilize multiple seasons of RPI data and heavily reward those programs that consistently produce a high number of strong wins year after year.
Continuing to top the list of the top 50 women’s soccer programs are Florida State at No. 1, the legendary UNC Tar Heels at No. 2, perennial team UCLA at No. 3, followed by Penn State and Stanford rounding out the top five.
