Normal train service has been restored through MacArthur station as of 4:22 p.m., but further delays are expected in downtown Oakland toward Antioch, Berryessa, Richmond and San Francisco.

BART said in an initial finding that the cause was a pantograph, a piece of equipment on each car, that had come into conflict with the power rail, causing smoke and likely an arcing fault.

BART said it was not a fire, but it might look like one.
