Oct. 2 (UPI) — A Bank of America outage on Wednesday that sent thousands of customers into panic mode, unable to access their accounts or seeing their balances plummet to zero, is nearing resolution.

“App not working and online banking shows yesterday’s balance,” said one user on the website Downdetector, where reports of nearly 20,000 outages were piling up around 1 p.m. EDT.

“I sent money from my PayPal account to my debit card linked to my BoA checking account five hours ago and it’s still not there!” another customer exclaimed, as users in different parts of the country checked their online account -Banking experiences compared.

“I can see some of our accounts, but not all. And the transfer between accounts feature still doesn’t work for all accounts,” a third customer added.

Later Wednesday, Bank of America released a statement saying most of the issues had been resolved.

“Some customers today are experiencing a problem accessing their account and balance information. These issues are being addressed and are largely resolved,” Bank of America said. “We apologize for any inconvenience.”

Bank of America declined to reveal the cause of the problem because a customer discovered his account balance was at zero.

“But it shows my debt quite well,” they added.
