Bald eagle to be released in Kiptopeke Park on Friday

After five months of treatment and care, bald eagle #24-0336 is ready to return to the skies.

This adult eagle was found in a field in Northampton County on March 20. Upon arrival at the Wildlife Center, the veterinary team found a significant ulnar fracture in the eagle’s left wing, accompanied by a large hematoma. The eagle also had a laceration on its foot.

The veterinary team carefully bandaged the eagle’s wing and administered painkillers and anti-inflammatory drugs to the bird. Physical therapy and laser therapy were also used to speed up the healing of the eagle’s fracture and ensure full mobility of the wing. By June, the eagle’s fracture had healed and he was ready to begin flight training.

The eagle’s left wing initially drooped during training sessions, but the drooping subsided as the bird regained its strength and stamina. On August 10, the eagle was officially cleared for release!
