The College Board makes it easier for students and parents by providing clear steps they can take on this exciting journey. From AP courses and the SAT to free online educational resources like BigFuture, there are best practices and new information that both students and parents need to know.

DID YOU KNOW?

  • The SAT suite is now fully digital – this includes SAT weekend as well as the SAT school day and PSAT-related tests administered at school during the day.
  • Students enrolled in an Advanced Placement course should inform their AP instructor that they are committed to taking the AP exam in the spring. Regardless of score, all AP exam scores demonstrate a willingness to work hard and complete college-level work. Taking an AP exam also gives students the opportunity to earn college credit while in school.
  • There are free online resources like BigFuture that help students explore careers, plan their studies, and finance their studies. PLUS: Students who complete steps in BigFuture can win two scholarship drawings $40,000 Scholarships or more $500 scholarships per month.

Stacey Foney is a director on the College Board’s Counselor Community Engagement team. She earned her bachelor’s degree in sociology, supplemented with history Dartmouth Collegeher master’s degree in school counseling at the University of Georgia and her specialist degree in educational leadership at the University of West Georgia. She is currently working on her doctoral thesis. in counselor training and supervision Mercer University. During her 21 years in high school counseling, she served as chief counselor, counseling director and director of high school programs in the state Georgia. Her passion was helping students graduate on time and achieve their post-secondary dreams, particularly those of the first generation and students who were often overlooked.
