The shooting occurred at around 9 p.m. on August 11 at the bus stop at Arts Center Station. Officers arrived at the scene to find a man who had been shot multiple times. Despite rescue attempts, the victim was pronounced dead after being transported to the hospital. The shooter left the scene before officers arrived.

On August 12, the MARTA Police CIU obtained arrest warrants for 38-year-old Xavier Mosley and identified him as a suspect in the shooting.

On the morning of August 14, the MARTA Police CIU, along with the APD Fugitive Task Force and APD SWAT Team, executed a search warrant at Mosley’s Atlanta apartment. Mosley was arrested without incident and transported to the Fulton County Jail.

“We value our partnership with the Atlanta Police Department,” said MARTA Police Chief Scott Kreher. “This is a great example of local agencies working together to achieve the common goal of keeping our communities safe.”

Mosley was charged with murder, aggravated assault, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, and possession of a weapon during the commission of a felony. In addition to these charges, Mosley was permanently banned from MARTA.
