It was a busy day for the Minnesota Vikings, who, like the rest of the National Football League, trimmed their roster to 53 players. But while management went about their work and coaches delivered bad news to players across the roster, some of the team’s linemen taped a show for the Food Network.
Minnesota Vikings on Diners, Dine-Ins and Dives
Diners, Dine-Ins’ and Dives with Guy Fieri has been on the Food Network since 2007, making it one of the network’s longest-running shows. It’s also a show that now includes an episode with a cameo by the Minnesota Vikings.
At least that’s what a tweet from the celebrity chef’s official Twitter account says, which also includes several Minnesota Vikings players, including Brian O’Neill, Christian Darrisaw, Garrett Bradbury, Sean Mannion and Harrison Phillips.
Guess which type is not for the @Vikings 😂

Guy Fieri, originally a chef and restaurant owner in Northern California, is one of the best-known celebrity chefs in the industry. He has even appeared on South Park. When that happens, you know you’ve made it. “DDD” is a cultural phenomenon. It’s about to enter its 50th season.

This isn’t the first time Fieri has brought the show to Minnesota. In fact, there are several stories where Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives has had a tremendous positive impact on restaurants in the state.

These restaurants include the Northern Waters Smokehaus, which was introduced in 2008. Pizzeria Lola (Minneapolis) was featured in an episode in 2015.
No one experienced a bigger boom than Northern Waters, which wanted to start a mail-order business selling smoked fish and similar specialties from its small shop in Duluth. “We were in a unique position to take advantage of that because we can serve a national audience,” he says. “We know when our episode is going to air because we get tons of calls and orders.”

“Thanks to our exposure, we became the best local restaurant on TripAdvisor. We now have customers from all over the world. It just went up, up, up. Our banker told us that’s not how restaurants usually work.”

Episodes of DDD can take months to air after they’re recorded, so don’t turn on your TV or try to set your DVR just yet. We’ll be on the lookout for that episode, though.
