AP Top 25: Alabama is new No. 1 after defeating Georgia; Ole Miss, Utah, Louisville crash

Alabama is the new No. 1 seed in the AP Top 25 poll after its win over Georgia on Saturday night. The Crimson Tide move from No. 4 to the top spot, while the Bulldogs fall to No. 5 in the rankings.

Texas slips to No. 2 after two weeks at the top of the poll. The Longhorns defeated Mississippi State 35-13 on Saturday. Ohio State remains at No. 3 while Tennessee moves up one spot to No. 4. Oregon is ranked No. 5, moving up two spots.

Utah posted the biggest drop in the latest poll, falling from No. 10 to No. 18 after its surprising 23-10 loss to Arizona on Saturday night. Ole Miss fell from No. 6 to No. 12 after the Rebels’ 20-17 loss to Kentucky back.

Louisville also suffered big drops in the poll, from No. 15 to No. 22 after losing 31-24 to Notre Dame. The Irish move from 16th to 14th. Illinois fell from No. 19 to No. 24 due to its loss to Penn State, which jumped from No. 9 to No. 7 after a 21-7 win.

For the first time this season, two teams made the Top 25. Indiana is 4-0 at No. 23 after a 42-28 win over Maryland. And UNLV made headlines this week when quarterback Matthew Sluka opted out due to a NIL -Streits decided to sit out the rest of the season. But the Rebels kept winning with a 59-14 win over Fresno State.

Oklahoma State dropped out of the AP poll after a decisive 42-20 loss to Kansas State. Texas A&M also fell out of the top 25 despite a 21-17 win over Arkansas.
