Anna Delvey is ‘grateful’ for The View’s on-air correction after demanding an apology

Anna Delvey is “grateful” for The view‘s on-air correction after she sharply criticized the co-hosts for making false claims about her.

On Monday, September 16, Alyssa Farah Griffin made a statement before the episode ended. The statement referenced a previous episode in which Whoopi Goldberg made a comment about Delvey’s 2017 arrest, and Griffin cast doubt on whether Delvey had changed, saying, “Con artists tend to remain con artists.”

“We recently talked about Anna Delvey, the convicted fraudster, and found that she Dancing with the stars and we question the fairness of her participating in the show, as it is an opportunity that most other convicted criminals and asylum-seeking immigrants simply do not have,” Griffin began. “After that discussion, we heard from Miss Delvey’s attorney, who strongly disagreed with our statement, quote, that she still owes people money.”

She continued: “He argued that this statement falsely suggests that she still owes compensation to her fraud victims. And he presented a document from the Office of Victim Services that he says proves, quote, that Miss Delvey’s entire compensation has been fully repaid and all victims have been fully compensated, end quote. We are all looking forward to the new season of Dancing with the stars Premiering tomorrow night here on ABC.”

Delvey’s attorney, Duncan Levin, issued a statement to PEOPLE after the episode aired.

“We are grateful that The view has corrected her false and defamatory statements about Ms. Delvey,” the statement said. “Like so many others, Anna has made mistakes and, most importantly, she has made amends by both serving her prison sentence and fully repaying all of her debts. Anna deserves a second chance and accepts The view‘s apology.”

One day after the episode of September 5, in which The view Co-hosts criticized Delvey’s casting on German wave, The Russian-born man criticized the show for spreading lies.

“I have served my sentence and paid everyone back in full over three years ago. I look forward to your correction on the show.”

“Stay evil, girls, but don’t forget to vote on September 17th!” she concluded, referring to the premiere date of : The DWTS.

Delvey, whose real name is Anna Sorokin, was arrested in 2017 after posing as a wealthy German heiress and exploiting her social status to defraud wealthy people, banks and hotels. In 2019, she was charged with first-, second- and third-degree grand larceny and theft of services.

She soon paid the court order with the $320,000 she had received from Netflix for the rights to adapt her life story into a television series, which Anna invent, will be released in 2022, insider reported.

Delvey’s problems with the ICE were also an important topic of conversation among the ladies on The view (Delvey was taken into custody shortly after her release for violating visa conditions and has been under house arrest in New York City since then while her deportation is being decided.)

“I think back to all the families whose family members were arrested by ICE, who went to court to get their father or their mother or their brother back,” Goldberg said. “And this woman got permission to do that. I think there’s a reason for that. Is there a two-tier system here at ICE?”

After her co-hosts weighed in on the issue, Goldberg claimed, “She still owes people money. I don’t understand why she gets to stay!” Joy Behar then said it was because Delvey was “pretty.”

“It’s a little annoying, I’ll tell you that,” Goldberg replied, before talking about the broader immigration issues. “You know, I like pretty people too, but I have to say, when I listen to the people complaining about what’s happening at the border, and when I listen to the people complaining about who shouldn’t be here — what the hell, man? How does that work?”

“This is a (fuck you) considering the many people who have tried to come back to this country and whose families have been torn apart,” the EGOT winner continued.
