HONG KONG, 22 August 2024–(BUSINESS WIRE)–AM Best will host a reception to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the commencement of its Asia Pacific business on Wednesday, 25 September 2024 at 6:00 p.m. HKT at the Renaissance Hong Kong Harbor View Hotel.
The event will take place during the East Asia Insurance Congress (EAIC) in the hotel’s Oasis Room and coincides with AM Best’s 125th anniversary.
AM Best’s connection to the Asia Pacific insurance markets dates back to 1991, when representatives from the People’s Republic of China were invited to visit the company’s U.S. headquarters in Oldwick, New Jersey. This was followed by a visit from Japan’s largest brokerage to discuss AM Best’s rating system and Capital Adequacy Ratio (BCAR) model. Shortly thereafter, AM Best began issuing credit ratings for insurers in China, Hong Kong, Singapore and Korea from its Hong Kong office, becoming the largest credit rating agency specializing in Asia Pacific insurance. To continue to serve a growing client base in Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand, AM Best opened its Singapore office in 2015 in the heart of the city’s financial district.
