AltStore PAL, a popular third-party app store for iPhone users in the EU, is now free to download thanks to a generous donation from Epic Games.
announcement the news about threads, AltStore PAL — the third-party app store developed by Riley Testut of Delta Emulator fame, is eliminating its $1.50 annual subscription fee, meaning existing subscribers won’t have to pay anything extra. “To innovate in app distribution, Epic Games has awarded us a MegaGrant grant to help cover Apple’s Core Technology Fee going forward. If you’re already a subscriber, you don’t need to do anything – you won’t be charged ANYTHING when you renew.”
This is all thanks to a grant from game developer Epic Games, which has its ‘Epic MegaGrants‘ program is designed to “support the development of exciting projects that might otherwise lack sufficient funding to fully realize. They are specifically designed for smaller teams, individual developers and innovators who use our technology to bring bold, challenging and incredibly creative dreams to life.”
AltStore did not disclose the terms of the MegaGrant or what it meant in any other case. Post threads that they would like to show their appreciation in a future updateiMore has requested further comment.
