Alaska Airlines experienced a “significant IT outage” on Sunday, temporarily disrupting the airline’s operations.
“We are currently experiencing a significant IT outage, our IT teams are working to resolve the issues as quickly as possible,” the airline responded to a customer on X who posted on Sunday that both the airline’s website and app were down.
Alaska responded to another frustrated passenger on X that the issue was “significantly impacting operations.”

According to KING 5 News, the IT problems led to a grounding of all Alaska Airlines flights at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.
The airline said its operations resumed around 10 p.m. local time.

This comes as the airport is already trying to recover from last month’s cybersecurity attack. That attack, which occurred in late August, resulted in a number of flight disruptions at the airport, which is a major hub for Alaska.

Earlier this month, the Port of Seattle, which operates the airport, said the criminal organization called Rhysida had demanded ransom for documents it stole during the cyberattack and allegedly published on the dark web.

The Port of Seattle refused to pay the ransom, but said port staff are working around the clock to ensure that “partners and travelers using our gateways can reach their destinations safely and use our facilities.”

The port said it was also working with forensic experts and actively supporting the police investigation into the attacker.

Port staff and volunteers have invested “countless hours” to contain the impact of the incident, officials said.
However, the response and recovery are still ongoing, the port said.
