Alabama football falls into the AP Top 25 and Coaches Poll after loss to Vanderbilt

The time at the helm of Alabama football only lasted a week.

For one week, the Crimson Tide was ranked in the top two. Then an ugly road loss to Vanderbilt quickly lost those rankings.

Alabama is now ranked No. 7 in the coaches’ poll. The AP Top 25 will be released on Sunday around 1 p.m. CT, but the Crimson Tide is certain to fall from No. 1.

Meanwhile, Texas remains No. 1 in the SEC Coaches’ Poll. Georgia moved up one spot to No. 4.

A week ago, after beating Georgia, Alabama was ranked No. 1 in the AP Top 25 and No. 2 in the Coaches Poll.

Then the Crimson Tide put on a lackluster, uninspiring performance in Nashville, losing to Vanderbilt 40-35 for the first time since 1984. Alabama’s offense scored five touchdowns but also had two turnovers. Meanwhile, the defense allowed more third-down conversions in four games (12) than it did all season (11). In some crucial moments, the defense couldn’t get off the field as the Vanderbilt offense controlled time of possession.
