ABC debate live: Last-minute changes to Kamala Harris’ debate script: What happened at the Pittsburgh hotel

Kamala Harris camped in a Pittsburgh hotel for five days to prepare for the debate tonight she will face Donald Trump for the first time in the presidential debate. According to reports, there were elaborately choreographed debate drills at the hotel, including a stage, replica television lighting and Philippe Reines playing Donald Trump in mock debates.
There were last-minute changes to Kamala Harris’ strategy as she prepared for a silent debate – for which she ABC News but it failed. In an unmuted debate, candidates can interrupt the others during their speech – to object, check facts, ask counter questions, etc. But this was the first time in presidential debate history that the microphones were muted at the CNN debate, and the same will happen at tonight’s debate. The microphones will only be muted when the candidate is speaking.
Politico previously reported that Kamala Harris originally planned to object and question Donald Trump directly, but since that was not approved, her advisers had to rewrite the script, according to Fox News. Since Kamala Harris is still a prosecutor, she is more interested in asking her opponent counter questions than delivering his monologue. Her campaign staff claimed that she would be “shackled” by the debate without a microphone.
“Vice President Harris, a former prosecutor, is fundamentally disadvantaged by this format, which is designed to protect Donald Trump from direct interaction with the Vice President. We suspect this is the primary reason his campaign insists on muting microphones,” Harris’ campaign wrote to ABC News.
No fake Kamala Harris in Donald Trump’s preparation
According to a report in the New York Times, Donald Trump’s preparations were rather improvised. It was not debate preparation, but so-called “policy time” in which he was provided with the latest figures. And there is no fake Kamala Harris in his debate preparations; sometimes his staff sit across from him and send questions back and forth.
What Hillary Clinton said
Hillary Clinton debated Donald Trump during the 2016 election. She advises not to provoke Kamala Harris, but she should provoke him herself. “When I said he was a Russian puppet, he just stammered on stage. I think that’s an example of how you bring out a fact about him that really unsettles him,” said Hillary.
What worries the Trump camp
The Trump camp fears that he will come on stage angry and unable to contain his deep disdain for Harris. Trump has already made it clear that he thinks Hillary Clinton is better than Kamala Harris. This could reflect in his debate if he doesn’t get it under control. His advisers want a happy Trump on the debate stage, not a mean, tyrannical Trump, because that would only hurt him in the debate.
