Abandoned dog discovered at the station breaks everyone’s heart

Kai can be considered a lucky dog today, but his previous life was not easy, especially when his owner decided to sell him.

Heartlessly abandoned

In fact, Kai’s owner was so keen to sell the dog that he even persuaded an interested buyer to meet him and Kai at Ayr train station. But before the buyer could make his decision, the unscrupulous owner sped off and was never seen again.

This left the potential buyer, Fin Rayner, in the lurch. Unable to take Kai home, she left the dog alone at the train station with only his suitcase for company.

When the suitcase was opened, everyone found, to their great dismay, that it contained Kai’s favorite toy, a bowl and a pillow.

The Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals took Kai in and soon offered him for adoption. Pictures of the abandoned Shar-Pei crossbreed flooded the Internet and aroused interest worldwide.

Win the lottery

One of the people who wanted to adopt Kai was Ian Russell, an engineer from Glasgow. When he first visited Kai, it was love at first sight. Mr. Russell, who had lost his own dog to illness just before Christmas of that year, was smitten with Kai and decided to adopt him.

The man said he was as happy as if he had won the lottery.

Mr Russell revealed that people still recognise Kai from pictures of him standing guard alone on the platform at Ayr station and that some have nicknamed him ‘Paddington Ayr’.
