Observations from the Jets training camp on Tuesday.
JJ is a real dynamite!
It was a strong day for defensive end Jermaine Johnson. Coming off a successful sophomore season, Johnson had a sack on Aaron Rodgers and pulled down receiver Xavier Gipson on a jet sweep. He was very active throughout practice.
Keep track
Rookie running back Isaiah Davis fumbled during a botched handoff with backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor. However, the offense recovered the ball.
I noticed
Receiver Irv Charles, known for his work as a special teams ace, caught two touchdown passes from Taylor, one of which was a bomb pass through double coverage where Charles deflected the ball to himself.
Rodgers report
This was one of Rodgers’ best practices of training camp. After a slow start in which he missed four of his first five pass attempts, he finished the game 20-of-30 passing and three touchdowns, two of them to wide receiver Garrett Wilson. He finished the afternoon by hitting running back Breece Hall down the left sideline for a touchdown. Rodgers also used his legs a few times to extend drives when no one was open.
Injury report
TE Jeremy Ruckert has a concussion, coach Robert Saleh said. OT Tyron Smith did not participate in team drills. He participated in individual drills.
