“A lot of it was taken out of context.”

“I thought it would be stressful not having Super Bowl rings,” Brady said in the locker room, via ESPN. “So there was the attitude of a champion that I brought to work every day. This wasn’t a daycare center. If I wanted to have fun, I would take my kids to Disneyland. There’s a way to approach this game and “You have to have the right attitude to push each other out of your comfort zone, and great teammates do that. You come on, I’ve got someone like (Rob) Gronkowski, I’ve got someone like (Mike ) Evans – the expectations for us are high. We have to make sure we go out and deliver.”

After the win, Mayfield wanted to clarify what he had said about his predecessor and that he meant no disrespect to the future Hall of Famer.

“I think a lot of it was taken out of context,” Mayfield said, per team transcript. “None of it was personal in any way. It’s just what he asked the guys to do, and that’s the aura of Tom Brady. That’s what he did to bring a championship here. (It’s) nothing personal, but yeah, (we) talked.” Before the game, he’s obviously happy for me and he knows how much I enjoy throwing to Mike (Evans) and Chris (Godwin). a guy.

When Mayfield learned what Brady said during his postgame call, he found Brady’s comment amusing but maintained his conviction on the matter.

“Like I said, a lot of things were taken out of context,” Mayfield said. “He did it his own way and that’s why he has seven rings. There’s nothing more to say about it.”

Despite all the perceived drama, Mayfield’s performance prompted numerous compliments from Brady during the broadcast. Mayfield, who completed 30 of 47 passes for 347 yards, accounted for his team’s first three touchdown scores (two passing, one rushing), catapulted the Buccaneers to an early lead and maintained dominance by playing smoothly through four quarters carried out a fruitful offensive.

It was a performance that had Tampa Bay beaming with excitement since Mayfield was given the chance on a one-year deal last season. One playoff appearance and one Pro Bowl appearance later, the Buccaneers went all-in on the affable QB and signed Mayfield to a three-year, $115 million contract.

Mayfield and Tampa Bay’s last Super Bowl-winning quarterback happened to be mentioned in the same breath on Sunday. They certainly hope it won’t be the last time.
