A look inside a Sunbury-area home that recently went on sale for nearly million

A 30-year-old Delaware County estate nestled deep in the trees has hit the market for nearly $5 million.

Built in 1994 on Plantation Road, about 5 miles north of Sunbury, the brick Colonial-style home sits at the end of a half-mile driveway on 63 acres of densely wooded land.

“The overall atmosphere of the property is one of seclusion, luxury and a deep connection with nature,” said Terra Shoaf, the agent at Keller Williams Consultants Realty, who is listing the home for $4.89 million.

Visitors enter the 7,000-square-foot home through a two-story foyer. There’s a formal dining room on one side and a den on the other. Beyond the foyer is the family room, which opens to the eat-in kitchen with custom cabinetry, including the refrigerator. Off the kitchen is a pantry with a sink, stove and dishwasher.

A wing on the first floor is dedicated to a spacious media and entertainment room with cathedral ceilings.

The ground floor also includes an office and a 130 m² guest suite with kitchenette, living area and separate entrance.

Upstairs there are four bedrooms, including the master suite.

Hardwood floors and extensive wood paneling and built-ins are found throughout the home, as well as new lighting and a fresh coat of paint.

A second wing is dedicated to a garage for four cars.

Beneath the house is a full basement with 10 foot poured foundation walls and epoxy coated floors.

A 2,500-square-foot paved patio stretches across the back of the house and includes several seating areas, a fire pit, a gazebo and an outdoor kitchen, “all with panoramic views of the woods surrounding the house,” Shoaf said. A path leads to a paved fire pit circle.

A road leads to a barn built in 2019, which also contains a living space.

The property, which borders a 58-hectare nature reserve, also features a fish-filled pond and hiking trails.

“The proximity to these nature reserves provides opportunities for hiking, bird watching and other outdoor activities right on your doorstep, including your own pond for fishing,” Shoaf said.
