SWLA schools close on September 10 and 11

SWLA, Louisiana (KPLC) – Several schools around SWLA will remain closed in anticipation of the impending landfall of Tropical Storm Francine.

The following schools will be closed tomorrow, September 10, and Wednesday, September 11:

  • All schools and facilities in the municipality of Calcasieu
  • All schools and facilities in the municipality of Beauregard
  • All schools and offices of Jeff Davis Parish
  • All schools in the Diocese of Lake Charles
  • Bishop Noland High School and Bishop Noland Episcopal Day School
  • All charter schools, including Lake Charles Charter Academy, Southwest Louisiana Charter Academy and Lake Charles College Prep
  • St. Nicholas Center for Children

All Cameron Parish schools and offices will be closed Tuesday, September 10, through Thursday, September 12.

All Allen Parish schools and facilities will close at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, September 10, and remain closed all day on Wednesday, September 11.

McNeese State University will transition its classes to online beginning at noon on Tuesday, September 10. All offices will close at 1 p.m. On Wednesday, September 11, all classes will be canceled and offices will remain closed.

McNeese campus residents are asked to leave campus during the closure, but residence halls will remain open. Dining services at Rowdy’s Cafeteria will continue on a modified schedule on Wednesday. All other dining facilities and campus offices will be closed Tuesday through Wednesday starting at 1 p.m.

Given the current storm development, McNeese anticipates a full reopening on Thursday, September 12th.

CPSB spokeswoman Holly Holland said they will continue to monitor the weather closely and will update everyone in the coming days on the status of the school on Thursday, Sept. 12.
