Take a look inside the Winn House

There are about 30 homes in Michigan designed by the late Frank Lloyd Wright, and this stunning home in Kalamazoo just hit the market for just under $1.9 million.

About Frank Lloyd Wright

If I asked you to name the first architect that comes to mind, you would probably think of Frank Lloyd Wright. He designed over 1,000 buildings during his lifetime and greatly influenced other designers in the 20th and 21st centuries.

In Michigan, the designer GOAT is credited with creating a community of Usonian homes in Kalamazoo known as Parkwyn Village. According to the Robb Report, Wright also designed four of the five homes at the Acres in nearby Galesburg, Michigan.

His designs could be described as quirky, as you’ll see in the photos below. Wright’s homes often include numerous custom built-in closets, storage areas, and sitting areas, and you’ll see this design very much reflected in the Winn House below.

The Winn House in Kalamazoo

The Winn House was designed by Wright in the early 1950s for Robert D. and Winifred L. Winn. It was the last house built in the prestigious Parkwyn Village.

This 2,300-square-foot piece of history features three bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms. The kitchen area is small by today’s standards, but the home’s open floor plan and built-in cabinets provide plenty of room for entertaining.

According to the listing

“The Winn House features Wright’s signature open floor plan, large windows and custom furniture, creating a bright and inviting space that blurs the lines between indoors and outdoors.”

The details

The Winn home is located at 2822 Taliesin Drive in Kalamazoo. The listing is being handled by Fred Taber and Chuck Jaqua of Jaqua Realtors.
