Mike Macdonald’s first game and win as Seahawks coach “something special”

“Damn, it was awesome, electric,” Macdonald said. “The fans were incredible. I mean, they were loud. They didn’t gang up on third down, so our communication was great for the most part. What a fantastic atmosphere. It was special, I can tell you that. That was really, really cool. The guys were really excited. I was just telling everybody how much work went into our preparation. You’re looking at six months of full throttle now to get everything together. That takes the whole building, the whole organization, all the fans. I’m really proud of our team for getting a win.”

Safety Julian Love, who recorded one interception, one forced fumble and 12 tackles (most on his team), enjoyed watching the team celebrate their head coach’s first win, even as Macdonald tried to shift the attention back to his players.

“Obviously, everybody’s excited and wants him to get a little red because we’re excited about his first win,” Love said. “But he quickly turned the tables and turned it all on us, on our first win. That’s just the way he is. Of course, we’ll all have, I’m sure, a couple bottles of wine or something on his desk, maybe a cigar or two, for his first win. We’re excited for him, it’s his first win as a head coach. That’s a huge accomplishment. Now we’re just piling on. We’re piling on wins.”
