Michael McDowell is on pole for Sunday’s Quaker State 400 NASCAR Cup Series race in Atlanta.

McDowell took the pole with a lap speed of 179.261 mph. With his fifth pole position, he is tied with Kyle Larson for the most pole positions this season.

The NASCAR playoffs begin on Sunday with the first race of the round of 16. If a playoff driver wins Sundya, he will secure his place in the next round.
