NFL Week 1: Houston Texans begin regular season away with win over Indianapolis Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (KTRK) — The Houston Texans began their regular season on Sunday with a 29-27 away win against the Indianapolis Colts.

In the first half, Texans fans finally got a taste of the new quarterback-receiver connection between CJ Stroud and Stefon Diggs.

At halftime, the Texans led the Colts 12-7.

More importantly, the Texans stepped up their offense in the fourth quarter.

Early in the fourth quarter, Texans player Stroud connected with another rookie, running back Joe Mixon, for a three-yard touchdown to give Houston a 22-13 lead.

And then the connection between Stroud and Diggs became clear when the number 7 scored a two-yard touchdown with Diggs.

In addition, this represented a milestone in Diggs’ career. The Texans’ star wideout completed passes worth over 10,000 yards in his NFL career.

On the Colts side, starting quarterback Anthony Richardson and his team managed to reduce the deficit to 29:27 about two minutes before the end of the fourth quarter.

Overall, Houston survived a nerve-wracking game against Indianapolis with a win over an AFC South rival.

In Week 2, the Texans return to their home stadium, NRG Stadium, where the team will host Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears on September 15.
