Reacting to the AP College Football Poll – What’s next for each top 25 team?

The new AP College Football Top 25 Poll is here.

The top-ranked Georgia Bulldogs completely shut down the Clemson Tigers in one of three Week 1 games against two top-ranked opponents. Carson Beck managed 278 passing yards and two touchdowns while UGA’s defense limited Clemson to just 188 yards. Behind UGA, the other teams in the top five handled their inferior opponents with ease.

Things to know: Georgia has won 45 consecutive games against teams not named Alabama. The last time the Bulldogs lost to a team other than the Crimson Tide was against Florida in 2020.

Things to know: Former five-star recruit Jeremiah Smith caught two touchdown passes. He is the first Buckeyes receiver with two receiving scores in his debut since Michael Wiley in 1996.

Things to know: Oregon has a 20-0 record against FCS opponents since 1978, but Saturday’s game was the second-smallest victory behind the 35-30 win over Montana in 1993. Before Saturday, the Ducks beat FCS opponents by an average of 43.6 points per game.

Things to know: This was Oklahoma State’s 15th consecutive game in which they held an FCS opponent to seven or fewer points at halftime. The last time the Cowboys failed to do that was in 2005, when they trailed 10-8 at halftime against Montana State before winning 15-10.
