LAKE CHARLES, Louisiana (KPLC) – SWLA has been quiet for a few days, but will be much more active for the rest of the week.
Rain chances will increase significantly across the region on Wednesday as the low pressure system that recently brought rain is likely to approach SWLA again. While we’re not expecting a full day of rain, you’ll want to keep a close eye on the skies and have an umbrella ready outside, especially in the afternoon as isolated thunderstorms will also move in. Remember, you can always check active radar with the First Alert Weather app.
Isolated activities should keep temperatures fairly well under control, with temperatures above 30 degrees in most areas.
Showers are expected around Thursday, after which the probability of rain will decrease until Friday.
A cold front appears to be moving through SWLA by the weekend. If the front makes it this far, it would bring even drier air to SWLA and perhaps some cooler air, especially at night. We’ll continue to monitor this, but keep in mind there’s still plenty of room for change over the next few days.
There are currently no active systems in the tropics. However, we are continuing to see a disorganized tropical wave moving across the Caribbean this week. However, the chances of it developing at all have decreased. And even if it does, the approaching cold front would likely keep it well south of our area.
There are two other areas much further out in the Atlantic, but neither of them currently poses a threat to SWLA.
