A Bronx man is recovering after being shot during an apparent burglary attempt Tuesday night, authorities said.
According to police sources, the victim, a 52-year-old man, was in his apartment at Mott Haven Houses, 383 141st Street, around 9 p.m. on August 27 when he heard a knock on the front door.
According to law enforcement sources, seconds later the victim opened the door and saw two masked men attempting to gain entry inside.
The victim fought back, police said, and pushed his attackers back into the hallway. During the chaos, one of the suspects pulled out a gun and opened fire, hitting the victim in the left leg.
After the gunshot wound, the shooters fled the building, authorities said.
Officials of the 40th District responded to the incident and found the injured man, who police said is known to the department. EMS took him to Lincoln Hospital, where he is expected to survive his injuries.
No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing. Police described the shooters as men wearing black masks and blue jeans.
