Gas prices in Eugene rise slightly, nationwide decline

According to a GasBuddy survey of 78 Eugene gas stations, average gasoline prices in Eugene have increased 1.1 cents per gallon over the past week, averaging $3.61 per gallon today. Prices in Eugene are 9.8 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and 101.3 cents per gallon lower than a year ago. The national average price for diesel has decreased 3.2 cents over the past week, at $3.67 per gallon, a multi-year low.

According to GasBuddy’s price reports, the cheapest gas station in Eugene on Sunday was $3.28/g, while the most expensive was $4.17/g, a difference of 89.0 cents per gallon. The lowest price in the state on Sunday was $3.04/g, while the highest was $4.79/g, a difference of $1.75/g.

The national average price of gasoline fell 6.2 cents per gallon over the past week, averaging $3.30 per gallon on Monday. The national average is down 20.7 cents per gallon from a month ago and is 49.2 cents per gallon lower than a year ago, according to data from GasBuddy, compiled from more than 11 million weekly price reports from over 150,000 gas stations across the country.

“It seems fitting that the national average has fallen for four weeks in a row to its lowest level since February in the lead-up to Labor Day, giving Americans one last chance to hit the road without gas prices being a factor,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. “GasBuddy is currently tracking eight states where average gas prices are already below the $3 per gallon mark, and nearly 20% of gas stations nationwide are selling gas for $2.99 ​​or less. Those numbers will look better week by week as we move into fall.”
