“It doesn’t meet regulations”: Injured guest sues Naples restaurant after ceiling collapse in July

Attorney Aaron P. Davis, a partner at Davis Goldman PLLC, said his client was knocked over by the collapsing ceiling and suffered a deep cut that required stitches. Davis said the injuries are still affecting his client’s daily life, so he is suing the restaurant and property owners — claiming the collapse was caused by negligence.

“Any time a ceiling collapses and beams, ceiling tiles and the like fall on visitors, that violates building codes,” says Davis.

However, I reached out to La Trattoria for comment and a managing partner told me behind closed doors that the restaurant was compliant and inspections were up to date.

Davis said his client is seeking more than $50,000 in compensation.

“One of the reasons we filed suit so quickly is because we wanted to have the opportunity to present evidence and examine the details of exactly why this happened, as you would with any building collapse,” Davis explained.

The managing partner of La Trattoria said the restaurant is currently undergoing extensive renovations and plans to reopen soon.
