Haiti – Aviation: Monitoring the construction site of the control tower and radar station at PAP International Airport

On Tuesday, August 6, the Minister of Public Works, engineer Raphael Hosty, accompanied by three members of his cabinet and Laurent Joseph Dumas, Director General of the National Office of Civil Aviation (OFNAC), visited the construction site of the new control tower and radar station at Toussaint Louverture International Airport.

This visit provided an opportunity to gain an overview of the progress of the Haitian civil aviation modernization project.

The project, funded by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Haitian government with a budget of $20 million, includes a secondary radar and two automatic monitoring stations to better manage and control air traffic.

It should be emphasized that the new air traffic control radar is already available and has been successfully tested.

Scheduled for completion by the end of 2024, this project represents a significant step forward for the safety and modernization of Haitian airspace.
