What are gas prices in Ridgefield this upcoming Labor Day weekend?

RIDGEFIELD, CT — As the long holiday weekend approaches, gas prices in Ridgefield are following a tried-and-true pattern.

Historically, gasoline prices peak in early summer before gradually declining in the weeks leading up to Labor Day. After hitting their seasonal peak in mid-July, gasoline prices in the Northeast have been steadily falling and are now below the price drivers paid for most of March and April. This is due in part to a quieter-than-expected hurricane season so far, according to Lauren Fabrizi, spokeswoman for AAA Northeast.

In Connecticut, a gallon of regular self-serve gasoline costs an average of $3.41, five cents less than a week ago and 15 cents less than a month ago. The national average is $3.35, six cents less than last week and 16 cents less than last month.

In Ridgefield, the cheapest gallon of regular gasoline is $3.55 at Gulf at 115 Danbury Road. At Getty at 36 Danbury Road, the same gallon costs $3.71. The Mobil station at 31 Danbury Road charges $3.99. The update was released Tuesday by the shopping app GasBuddy.

“An escalation of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East pushed up crude oil prices over the weekend, which could slow the price decline here,” said Fabrizi. “Motorists are currently benefiting from weeks of falling prices at petrol stations.”

Here is AAA Northeast’s weekly price survey in Connecticut’s six metropolitan areas:

  • Bridgeport: $3.45
  • Hartford: $3.39
  • Lower Fairfield County: $3.41
  • New Haven/Meriden: $3.42
  • New London/Norwich: $3.38
  • Windham: $3.36

As of Monday, Oklahoma and Mississippi have the lowest prices in the country at $2.88 and $2.89, respectively. Hawaii and California have the highest prices in the country this week at $4.64 and $4.60, respectively. Connecticut ranks 15th on the list of highest gas prices in the country.
