The chicken chain’s innovative two-story restaurant has four drive-thru lanes
Chick-fil-A is testing a new method to deliver groceries to customers.
On August 22, the fast-food chain opened an innovative restaurant, the latest of several new restaurant concepts the brand has tested this year.
The new, two-story restaurant at 2155 Jodeco Road in McDonough, Georgia, doesn’t use its space for sit-down dining. Instead, the drive-thru-only restaurant features a kitchen twice the size of those typically found in Chick-fil-A stores to serve four drive-thru lanes, according to a press release. And even better? The number of lanes can accommodate three times more vehicles than a regular Chick-fil-A restaurant.
Two of the drive-thru lanes are for picking up pre-ordered online orders, and the other two allow customers to place orders with Chick-fil-A employees.
The concept uses conveyor belts to bring food from the kitchen to employees, who then deliver it to customers. According to a press release, the system can deliver food from the upstairs kitchen to employees every six seconds.
While this concept may only be tested at a single location, Chick-fil-A restaurants across the country are bringing back some interesting menu items.
The fan-favorite banana pudding milkshake will be available nationwide starting August 26 after a 13-year hiatus.
The frozen treat consists of real banana vanilla ice cream and vanilla wafer cookies and is garnished with whipped cream and a cherry.

Banana flavor is no longer just available in shakes. Chick-fil-A is also launching a new Banana Coffee that combines the same elements of the milkshake (ice cream, banana, and wafer cookies) with cold brew coffee.
The fan-favorite Honey Pepper Allspice Chicken Sandwich is also back—but in a different form. It’s now available with original chicken or spicy chicken, topped with honey, pimento cheese and pickled jalapeños, and served on a toasted bun.
