Day One comes to Paramount+ this week!

One of the most successful horror films of the year is coming to streaming this week! If you missed it, A quiet place: day one in theaters and you don’t want to pay an additional fee to rent or buy the film? Then you can soon watch it with your Paramount+ subscription. The latest entry in the popular franchise serves as a prequel to the 2018 film that started it all, from director John Krasinski. Krasinski returned to write and direct the 2020 sequel before taking the reins at Pig Director Michael Sarnoski for Day oneSarnoski also wrote the screenplay based on a story he co-created with Krasinski.

As the title suggests, Day one takes place on the first day of the alien invasion, which leads to the post-apocalyptic setting in A quiet place And A quiet place part II. In the 2024 film, Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o plays a terminally ill woman named Sam who wants nothing more than to spend time with her sweet cat Frodo and get a slice of pizza at Patsy’s before she dies.

Sam befriends Eric (Joseph Quinn), and the two brave the dangers of an alien-infested city to bring Sam her pizza and help Eric get off the island before he falls victim to these terrifying invaders who hunt solely by sound.

Not only Day one received critical acclaim upon its release last June, but the film would gross over $261.1 million on a $67 million budget, making it one of the highest-grossing horror films of 2024.

Part of the film’s appeal is the great performances from Nyong’o and Quinn, both of whom are no newcomers to the horror genre. Nyong’o was also incredible in Jordan Peele’s 2019 film Uswhile Quinn had her breakthrough year in 2022 after starring in the fourth season of the Netflix horror sci-fi series Stranger Things.
