Gas prices in Georgia continue to fall.

Monday’s average price of $3.15 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline is 7 cents lower than a week ago, 20 cents less than a month ago and 43 cents less than the same period last year.

Filling a 15-gallon tank of regular gasoline costs drivers an average of $47.25. Georgia residents are paying $3 less at the pump than they did a month ago.

“Georgia’s gas prices continue to rise, which is good news for drivers,” said Montrae Waiters, spokeswoman for AAA-The Auto Club Group. “This is due to low crude oil prices, which are making gas a lot easier on the wallet. The tide could turn at any time. We must remember that we are still in the early stages of hurricane season, and unpredictable things like storms or world events could shake things up and drive oil prices up again.”

Local average prices on Monday were $3.04 in Floyd County and Gordon County, $3.09 in Bartow County, $3.08 in Chattooga County and $3.11 in Polk County.

National

Prices at the pump are falling

Since last Monday, the national average price for a gallon of regular gasoline has increased by 6 cents to $3.35 (Subject to overnight changes). Reaching a price level not seen since March 6th. According to new data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), gas demand rose to 9.19 last week from 9.04 million barrels per day. Meanwhile, total domestic gasoline inventories fell to 220.6 million barrels from 222.2 million barrels, but gasoline production rose, averaging 9.8 million barrels per day. Weak gasoline demand, stable supply and low oil prices could lead to further price declines at the pump.
