NAKHON SI THAMMARAT, Thailand – A lone gunman shot and stole gold from a jewelry store in Lotus Salatung Song shopping mall, causing employees and customers to flee in panic. This is the second time such a robbery has taken place at the same store. Police suspect that the same gunman may be involved.
Surveillance footage from the night of August 24 shows the masked gunman dressed all in black, wearing a hood and carrying a bag over his shoulder as he entered the Yaowarat gold shop. The gunman shot at the display cases, causing panic among employees and customers as the mall was nearing closing time.
The robber managed to steal several gold items before fleeing. A mall security guard attempted to follow him and film the escape, but was forced to stop due to the gunman’s firearm. To further distract authorities, the perpetrator left a fake bomb behind, adding to the chaos.
Authorities discovered traces of blood at the crime scene, suggesting that the suspect may have cut himself on broken glass while reaching for the gold. DNA samples were collected for further investigation.
This incident was similar to a robbery in March 2023, in which a similar person stole over 40 baht of gold from the same shop. The robber appeared to have taken the same escape route in both cases. Police are now continuing their investigation, focusing on the possibility that the same person is responsible for both robberies.
The case has sparked concern among the public as authorities work to track down the elusive criminal. (TNA)
