It depends on the state or territory you live in whether you can get a higher or lower payment. When can you receive SNAP benefits in Guam, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and DC?
According to the USDA’s payment schedule, SNAP recipients living there will be able to receive benefits on the following dates in September 2024.
- Guam: September 1 to 10
- Puerto Rico: September 4th – 22nd
- District of Columbia: September 1-10
- U.S. Virgin Islands: September 1
The maximum SNAP amount recipients in the 48 contiguous states can receive is $1,751 if you’re 8 years old. An individual claiming the maximum amount can receive up to $291. A family of four can receive up to $973. The new COLA won’t increase benefits until October 1, 2024. Recipients in Hawaii will receive a reduction in the maximum amounts.
