Even though Nick Saban is no longer on the sidelines for Alabama, he still knows what a good football team looks like.
The Hall of Fame coach hasn’t given up on the game entirely, he’s the new analyst for ESPN’s College GameDay. When asked about his thoughts on Notre Dame this fall, Saban was very pleased with its chances of making the College Football Playoff this fall.
There was one big reason he believes that will be the case in the fall: the Irish’s independence. Saban explained that since Notre Dame doesn’t have to play a conference title game, it essentially has a week off before the CFP.

Although he is a little concerned about the Irish situation at left tackle, he said it is “interesting.” That doesn’t inspire much confidence, but the Irish have good options at that position.
Saban may well be right in his assessment of Notre Dame’s fate this fall, and many of us hope he is.
