A beaver’s mission seems to be more than just building dams.
Buc-ee’s reached a milestone in its expansion with the opening of its first store west of Texas in Johnstown, Colorado, in March. The opening marked a milestone for the company, which has left its stronghold in Texas and the South.
The sprawling gas station has developed a cult-like following due to its supernaturally clean restrooms and above-average culinary offerings.
The company also markets its stores through its Lone Star State-sized stores, and while the new Colorado location doesn’t hit the upper limit of Buc-ee’s store sizes, the company has two stores under construction that will each claim the title on their opening day.
Here’s what you need to know about Buc-ee’s.
Where is the largest Buc-ee’s in the world?
The largest Buc-ee’s in the world, at least for now, is located in Sevierville, Tennessee. The store, which opened in June, is over 800,000 square feet.
Where will the next largest Buc-ee’s in the world be?
The Tennessee location won’t keep its title forever, as the crown will return to the beaver’s home state. A 75,000-square-foot Buc-ee’s is currently under construction in Luling, Texas.
And that record won’t last long, as the company is currently planning a 80,000-square-foot location in Ocala, Florida.
Where will Buc-ee’s open more new locations?
The company is taking a slow but steady approach to expansion, but the first locations in North and West Texas have already opened.
On the contact page, the company lists five target locations for planned locations:
-
Hillsboro, Texas: Second quarter 2024
-
Smith’s Grove, Kentucky: 2024
-
Amarillo, Texas: 2025
-
Brunswick, Georgia: 2025
-
Rockingham County, Virginia: 2026
-
Boerne, Texas: 2026
In addition, there were announcements from local authorities regarding the opening of shops.
