Columbia police investigate report of shooting in restaurant parking lot

COLUMBIA, Missouri (KMIZ)

Columbia police are investigating reports of shots fired in West Columbia Friday evening.

At approximately 7:40 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of I-70 Drive Southwest. An ABC 17 News reporter observed at least eight patrol cars on scene in the parking lot of Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen.

Columbia Police Department spokesman Brian McNeill said police responded to a 911 call about gunshots being heard. An officer at the scene said police are not aware of any injuries related to the investigation.

An ABC 17 News reporter saw broken glass on the ground and what appeared to be bullet holes in a vehicle.

Isaac Shane Walter said his girlfriend’s truck was hit by a vehicle that he thought was trying to drive away after the shooting. He said when he came outside, he saw people standing around his girlfriend’s damaged truck. He said a few feet away was a car with its window shot out.
