Tim Walz recently visited a Runza restaurant, a local delicacy that he insisted JD Vance would call it Hot Pocket, in Nebraska, which sparked several reactions on social media. Supporters of the Democratic vice presidential candidate were quick to compare his “runza” moment to Vance’s “embarrassing” visit to the doughnut shop. “The decision is clear,” said one person on X, a platform formerly known as Twitter.

Walz’s visit came a few days after JD Vance visited a doughnut shop in Georgia. The Republican vice presidential candidate thanked an employee at Holt’s Sweet Shop, to which she replied, “I don’t want to be filmed.” The Ohio senator then turned to his team and said, “She doesn’t want to be filmed, guys, so just leave her out of everything.”

He then said, “I’m JD Vance, I’m running for Vice President, good to see you.” Her monosyllabic response was “OK.” The “awkward” interaction became a topic of conversation on social media, with several users trolling Vance.

Now that Tim Walz’s video has surfaced, voters are comparing the Democratic vice president’s visit to Vance’s. The Minnesota governor was seen chatting with employees at Runza restaurant.

“Compare that to JD Vance’s donut stop yesterday 😂😂😂,” one person reacted on the Elon Musk-led platform.

“JD Vance can’t stand to go into a donut shop. Meanwhile Tim Walz at Runza…” another person added.

“Walz walked into Runza and rocked the place with joy and laughter. So Vance tried… something diner-related? 👀,” said a third.

In a speech at a rally long before his visit, Walz had talked about Vance not knowing what a runza was. “Do you think JD Vance knows the first thing about Nebraska? Do you think he ever had a runza? The guy would call it a hot pocket. You know it. Every one of you here knows it. A damn hot pocket,” Harris’ vice presidential candidate had said.
