Miami radio station Hot105 just fired two of its most popular personalities

If you’re an avid Hot105 listener, your morning commutes may never be the same again.

Two of the radio station’s most prominent hosts – James T and Jill Tracey – have been fired, sources said. The reasons for their dismissal are unclear, as representatives from Cox Media Group, which owns Hot105 and Miami station 99 Jamz, did not respond to a request for comment.

Tracey, who had been a radio host in South Florida for over a decade, said she was fired Monday after stint on the morning show.

“They’re just trying to cut wherever they can because they’re not getting the numbers they used to get,” Tracey told the Miami Herald.

Tracey has been working in radio for over 30 years. In addition to co-hosting the show, which airs weekdays from 6am to 10am, she also created her own show, “Hot Talk with Jill Tracey,” which airs Sundays at 11pm.

Likewise, James T has been a fixture in the South Florida media scene for more than 50 years. He has worked everywhere from 99 Jamz to WPTV Channel 5 to Hot105. He has been with Hot105 since October 2004.

It is also unclear whether the wave of layoffs will also occur at 99 Jamz. In early June, well-known South Florida radio host Supa Cindy resigned from her position at 99 Jamz.

“I’ve kind of outgrown this place,” Supa Cindy said in a June 7 Instagram video, later adding, “I need to focus on my happiness, on what makes me happy. I’m not willing to sacrifice my happiness or my mental health for that.”
