CLEARWATER, Fla. – Construction is progressing on the new Clearwater Fire and Rescue Station No. 47.
“We’re really excited to build this right on Hercules Avenue, just south of Gulf to Bay Boulevard, north of Druid Road,” said Borough Manager John Klinefelter.
In order to provide better service to the local population, the new station is centrally located.
“It improves our response times. We have more units right here in the city center, our special unit here,” Klinefelter said of the four-station station across the street from Clearwater High School.
“It’s a 11,000-square-foot station. We’re going to house Engine 47 (and) Rescue 47. The force will be relocated here,” he said. “The only force we have in town will be relocated here.”
The new facility will also include individual dormitories.
That’s quite a change from the 50-year-old station that was located at Highland Avenue and Lakeview Road and is being replaced.
The new Station 47 is scheduled to be fully operational in May 2025.
