CenterWell Home Health launches 20th annual food drive

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) – The Parkersburg location is kicking off its month-long annual food drive. CenterWell Home Health is a company that provides home care and rehabilitation support to seniors.

This year, CenterWell will donate to the Latrobe Street Mission homeless shelter.

Abbi Sturm, an occupational therapist at CenterWell, said they are taking as much as they can.

“We are collecting as many donations as possible,” said Sturm. “Donations in kind, hygiene products, non-perishable food and monetary donations.”

Jackie Benton, branch manager of CenterWell Home Health in Parkersburg, adds that it’s important to give back, especially to the elderly.

“Everyone is having a tough time, but especially our seniors who live on a fixed income,” Benton said. “They are often food insecure and don’t have many options, so here at CenterWell we do a food drive every year to help our community. Every branch across the country will do this and help all communities that have food available.”

Benton adds that this type of action by CenterWell is a great help to people in need.

“When we can give back to our community, it makes you feel like you’re not just doing your job,” Benton added. “You’re actually helping out, and we’re able to help people who aren’t even our direct patients, but our entire community.”

Donations will be accepted at the Parkersburg location until September 21st.
