Austrian railway company ÖBB will complete renovations at four stations along its Pannonian Railway Line as part of a €4 million ($4.4 million) line modernization project.
The company is renovating the Schützen am Gebirge, Donnerskirchen, Breitenbrunn and Winden am See train stations and making them more accessible, among other things, by installing barrier-free equipment and guidance systems for the blind.
Other work includes the construction of new technical rooms and platform roofs in all stations as well as the renewal of platform equipment, lighting and loudspeaker systems.
ÖBB announced that work on three stations will begin on September 2, the modernization of Schützen am Gebirge will begin later on September 30, and all work is scheduled to be completed by November 29, 2024.
In addition, the company is carrying out track resurfacing and maintenance work to compact the ballast bed on some sections of the route, which will result in closures between October 14 and November 22.
The work within the framework of the modernization and maintenance project is financed by the ÖBB together with the state of Burgenland and the respective municipalities of the respective stations.

The company also recently began preparations for the EUR 878 million expansion of the southern railway line Werndorf – Spielfeld-Straß in Styria, which includes modernization work at all stations along the route.
