Wright State Newsroom – Mass food distribution planned at Wright State Nutter Center on August 29 « Wright State University

Wright State University, in partnership with the Foodbank, will host a mass food distribution for Greene County residents in need of food assistance on Thursday, August 29, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Wright State Nutter Center.

Guests receive free fresh produce, proteins, grains and other products. No registration is required.

Since this is a drive-in distribution, the vehicles should have enough space in the trunk or back seat for the groceries.

Vehicles should enter the Nutter Center site via Colonel Glenn Highway and North Fairfield Road and proceed to Parking Lot 8 behind the Nutter Center.

For setup and safety reasons, the Foodbank asks customers not to arrive earlier than 9:00 a.m.

CareSource sponsors the event, with CareSource and Wright State employees volunteering their time to distribute food.

This event is part of an annual series of mass distributions conducted in partnership with CareSource aimed at supporting communities in the Miami Valley that are particularly vulnerable to food insecurity.

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Ohio will distribute children’s books during the event.

SICSA will also distribute a limited amount of pet food to pet owners.

“Our commitment to the community goes beyond simply providing food. It’s about making sure every family has the resources they need to thrive,” said Michelle L. Riley, CEO of The Foodbank. “Special thanks to Wright State University and CareSource for making this distribution possible, as well as Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Ohio for also donating their resources.”

Residents unable to attend the distribution event can access the Foodbank’s pantry locator tool and other resources at thefoodbankdayton.org.

Wright State University students in need of urgent assistance should schedule an appointment at the Raider Food Pantry or call the pantry at 937-260-0167.
