Miami Football receives most ACC first-place votes in CBS Sports 2024 expert picks

The Miami football team received four of the eight top-place votes from a panel of CBS Sports judges in their “2024 ACC Expert Picks: Most Overrated and Underrated Teams, Projected Finishing Order, Bold Predictions.”

Shehan Jeyarajah, Richard Johnson, David Cobb and Jerry Palm are predicting Miami to win the ACC. Tom Fornelli, Chip Patterson and Will Backus are predicting Clemson and Dennis Dodd are predicting Florida State to win the ACC. The CBS Sports panel’s predictions differ slightly from those of ACC Media.

The media poll picked seven different teams to win the ACC. Florida State, Clemson and Miami were the top three, as per the CBS Sports picks. FSU, Clemson and Miami are the top three teams ahead of anyone else in the conference. North Carolina State, Louisville and Virginia Tech are the teams to watch.

CBS Sports held a panel discussion covering several categories. They discussed five overrated teams, five underrated teams, bold predictions and the ACC champion. Not surprisingly, Miami was mentioned in all four topics. The consensus is that Miami is on the up this year.

Some of the bold predictions for Miami are that they, NC State, SMU or Louisville break through and finally become the third program from the ACC to make the College Football Playoff. Cobb said the U is back. Miami needs to prove it on the field. That’s been an observation too often in the preseason over the last 20 years.

The boldest prediction came from CBS sports analyst Emory Hunt, who said Miami could remain undefeated. If Miami wins week one at Florida, October 19 at Louisville and October 26 against Florida State, they will significantly increase their chances of remaining undefeated. Miami is expected to win the other nine games.
