Preparations underway: Hawaii Foodbank and partners prepare for annual food collection

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Saturday is a significant occasion for the Hawaii Foodbank and the tens of thousands of families it serves.

The annual Food Drive Day is an effort to raise money and awareness about food insecurity across the state.

This year’s theme is “Nourish Our Ohana.”

“We know that one in three families in Hawaii is struggling to put food on the table, and that’s something we need to work on,” says Danny Schlag, marketing and communications director for the Hawaii Foodbank.

This year, a long-time partner of the Hawaii Foodbank is providing great assistance.

First Hawaiian Bank is offering a special $50,000 food collection day raffle to help the food bank and its partners distribute more healthy meals to hungry households.

Volunteers will be stationed at the following locations on Oahu to accept monetary and food donations:

  • Ka Makana Ali’i
  • Pearl City Shopping Center
  • Mililani Town Center
  • Waiokeola Congregational Church
  • Plaza on the water
  • Windward City Shopping Center

If you would like to volunteer for this year’s food collection, you can still register here.

If you are unable to attend, you can always donate online at www.hawaiifoodbank.org/donate.
