Police search for suspects after break-in at local restaurant

IDAHO FALLS – Police are searching for two people who broke into Smitty’s Pancake & Steak House in Idaho Falls Thursday morning.

According to Smitty’s Facebook page, two men broke into the restaurant around 4:30 a.m. on Thursday.

Smitty’s manager Adam Prophet says the suspects broke the locking mechanism on the back door, but did not notice anything else missing or damaged.

“We had to replace our back door locking mechanisms and everything else,” says Prophet. “The alarm scared them away before they could get into the office.”

Anyone with information about this break-in is asked to report it to Idaho Falls Police.

You can call the dispatch center at (208) 529-1200 or report anonymously to East Idaho Crime Stoppers.

Whistleblowers who report information through Crime Stoppers that leads to a successful arrest may be eligible for a cash reward.
