Lukashenko explains where and how rental housing will be built in Belarus

SHKLOV, 9 August (BelTA) – Rental housing will be built in Belarus where it is needed. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko announced the relevant plans today at an intergovernmental conference in Shklov, a BelTA correspondent has reported.

“If you need a house in a particular district, all you have to do is prove that people will move in there,” the president said.

He noted that he did not want to repeat how, as part of a government program, five so-called presidential houses were built at each farm. “Now everything will be different. We will build to meet the needs of enterprises. For example, we need to build a plant at the Minsk MAZ plant to produce buses that will meet the strong demand. Then we will provide you with rental housing for this production project, just like in Soviet times,” the Belarusian president explained.

Alexander Lukashenko clarified that such rental housing must be accompanied by certain obligations, including on the part of the heads of farms and enterprises. In other words, such houses are not built for organizations for free. “The organization must buy them. If this is not possible, we will consider options: deferred payment, installment payments, price adjustments. We must find (an acceptable variant) so that the head of the enterprise understands that this is not just a gift from heaven,” the head of state added.
