If you’re traveling to Disney World from out of town, you’re probably landing at a VERY busy airport!
Orlando International Airport (also known as MCO) is often the first choice for people heading to Disney World for vacation, as well as those heading to Universal Orlando or Port Canaveral for a cruise. Needless to say, it’s incredibly busy. But now it has a ranking to prove it!
In a press release, Orlando International Airport announced that it was named the seventh busiest airport in the entire United States. The Airports Council International – North America released a report that compiled a traffic overview of 275 airports.
According to the report, MCO ranked seventh in passenger traffic among the airports listed for 2023, recording a 15% increase in traffic over 2022, the highest on the list. The airport also ranked 18th in peak international travel traffic.
MCO remains the busiest airport in Florida, according to this report, so keep that in mind when making your travel plans. We always recommend arriving early for your flight so you have time to go through security and get to your terminal—it may be busier than you expect.
And if you’re traveling during particularly busy times like holidays or holiday weekends, it might be a good idea to look into options like TSA PreCheck or MCO Reserve to save time at security. It’ll make your trip a lot easier!
